-IREDD Disagrees With Political Parties
The Institute for Research and Democratic Development (IREDD) has disagreed with political parties contesting the just ended October 10 elections results.

Addressing a news conference Monday, at the institution’s head office in Monrovia, IREDD Executive Director, Harold Aidoo said IREDD reaffirm its support and confidence in the October 10th Elections.

“IREDD wishes to reaffirm our support and confidence in the October 10th Elections and equally wishes to inform Liberians that our observation of the elections did not reflect what most of the aggrieved political parties has averred as systematic fraud during the elections. While we acknowledge that there were isolated irregularities as a result of incompetence, those issues are not sufficient to undermine the fundamental integrity of the electoral process,” Aidoo stressed.

Aidoo asserted that while his group acknowledged that there were isolated irregularities as a result of incompetence on the part of NEC’s staffs, those issues are not sufficient enough to undermine the fundamental integrity of the electoral process.
IRED’s boss however, urged all political parties, particularly the aggrieved parties to put country above self and or personal and political interest and allow the transition process to proceed unhindered.
He indicated that IREDD welcomes the urgency with which the National Elections Commission has accorded the hearing process and further call on the NEC to exercise impartiality, professionalism and urgency to bring the matter to a close, thus, calling on the Supreme Court of Liberia to render its decision based on the supreme interest of the country to the extent of protecting and maintaining democracy.
Aidoo stated that IREDD believes that Liberia is every citizen common political interest; therefore, in the midst of all the legal claims and political bickering, no one must compromise the country’s interest, noting that the security of the state must never be threatened.
He indicated that the country’s emerging democracy must never fail the test of being sustainable by reverting to unwanted historical defects which impacted the economy and destroyed many lives and properties.
Meanwhile, Aidoo voiced that IREDD welcomes the statements issued by the United State Embassy near Monrovia and the European Union on the ongoing political impasse.
