It is fast becoming clear that most of the parties that failed to make it to the top on October 10 are flocking together and unanimous in the call for a rerun election or the Supreme Court to place a stay order on the runoff elections.

Also joining the fray of agitation against the outcome of the elections is the Alternative National Congress (ANC), which Tuesday said it was in support of the Liberty Party’s official complaint to the National Election Commission.

“Following the October 10th election results, our Standard Bearer, Mr. Alexander B. Cummings, informed the public of the Alternative National Congress’ (ANC) intention to explore challenging the integrity and subsequent validity of the recent election outcomes,” ANC disclosed in a statement under the signature of Chairman Lafayette O. Gould.

ANC said it has conducted investigation into the process and its findings revealed “wide spread improprieties”, but could not file complaints because it came after the deadline for filing complaints with the NEC.

It says, “Nonetheless, we intend to catalog and release our findings to the public in an effort to help improve our electoral process and illustrate the ANC’s commitment to democracy, transparency and better governance.”

Along with its Standard Bearer, Alexander Cummings, the party promised to continue to be dedicated to creating change and reform in Liberia.

“We ask all partisans and Liberians to please continue to remain calm during this very difficult period in our democracy,” the statement said.
“We must remain steadfast and peaceful in the preservation of the peace and stability of our great nation.”

ANC which came fourth in the election is yet to pledge support support or endorse any of the two candidates for the runoff elections, though its Standard-bearer told reporters in Sanniquelle, Nimba County during the campaign period that it would support any candidate.

It is breakaway faction of the CDC which is pretty seated in the runoff election with the ruling Unity Party which had earlier pledged support to the LP’s legal campaign against the outcome of the elections.
