-Police Boss Warns Would-Be Protesters
The inspector general of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Col. Gregory Coleman says there would be a rule-awakening to any individual or groups of individuals who according to him attempt to step outside the rule of law.

Col. Coleman said rule-awakening is a shocking action on the part of the police to those would-be protestors or demonstrators outside of taking legal means in addressing their plights.

Coleman who spoke Monday on the Super Morning Show (SMS) of the Liberia Broadcasting System said he would do all it takes in maintaining the peace and democracy the country now enjoys.

The police boss disclosed that from 12th Street in Sinkor to the Capitol Hill is a no-go zone for any forms of gathering or protests by any group of individuals or political parties, noting that doing so would meet a stiff resistance from the police
“From 12th streets up to Capitol Hill is a no-go zone, absolutely no gathering in that area, we have to ensure that we keep the people save. The price of maintaining this peace is astronomical, so when you have it, like we now have it you have to do everything to preserve it and we are going to do all we can to preserve this peace,” Col. Coleman stressed.

The police boss at the same time used the occasion to admonish political parties using the legal means to channel their grievances, noting that as they have respected the rule of law they should as well be willing to accept its outcomes.

“We appreciate their action by going to court and to remain within the confines of the law. We hope that as they have gone to the court, they will as well respect the outcome from the court. We are protector of our democracy, so whatever the court says we are there to stand with the court and enforce it, because if anyone who believes that they can step outside of the rule of law and take the law in their hands will be out for a very rule awakening,” the chief emphasized.
Col. Coleman assured Liberians that the police stand forever ready at every given point in time to preserve this fragile peace that according him cost the lives of many Liberians.

He disclosed that findings in the saga involving the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and the Liberty Party (LP) would be out any time this week, adding that the police is at the verge of conclusion into the matter.

It can be recalled that the CDC of former international soccer star now politician, Senator George Wean and LP of seasoned Liberian lawyer, Charles Walker Brumskine were involved into a standoff in Ganta, Nimba County that led to several citizens sustaining injuries.
