Out of the 73 seats that were up for grasp in the October 10, 2017 presidential and legislative elections, the Coalition for Democratic Change of Ambassador George M. Weah has won 21 seats followed by the ruling Unity Party of Vice President Joseph N. Boakai with 19.

The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and the Unity Party (UP) are the two political institutions that won 40 seats in the House of Representatives in this year’s elections.

The two parties have appeared in runoff elections on three occasions since 2005. The two political parties have not only appeared in constant runoff elections, but continue to win more legislative seats in the country.
In the just ended elections in the country, the CDC has so far won 21 of the seats in the House of Representatives, while Unity Party has won 19 seats already with both totaling 40seats out of 73 seats. The number might increase following the final resolution of the complaints in other disputes across the country.
Of the total seats so far, the CDC has 21, UP 19, independent 13, ALP 2, MDR 2, UPP 1, LINU 1, PUP 5, LPP 1, LP 3, VCP1, among others. The two parties are again the finalists for the runoff elections, a repeat of 2005 and 2011.
Already, the two finalists have begun lobbying for supports as Liberians are said to be going into the runoff with lots of things on their minds.
