View Point

Perhaps already gone with the winds, but few weeks ago the outgoing US President, Barack Obama, was outraged when he accused the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, of “manipulating” the US presidential elections.

In my last edition of the LEGISLATIVE ARROW in 2016, I appealed to Speaker Nuquay and the House’s leadership to prioritize the priorities.
As a nationalist and a journalist, I was impressed when you speaker James Emmanuel Nuquay’s leadership probably followed my recommendations in this column before the end of 2016 when I appealed to the leadership to prioritize the priorities at the Capitol.

This edition of the VIEW POINT considers the views of some Liberians about how and what they expect of the next government after the Unity Party-led government in this year’s October 10, 2017 general and presidential elections in the country.

Time is the ultimate reward of the deeds of man, whether good or bad or whatever there may be besides these two. Solomon, the wisest human in bible history, hit the cord of this maxim harmoniously when he writes in one passage in the Ecclesiastics that “for everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.”
No wonder why the evil of the night is caught in the web of a sunny day no matter how long the night may seem to last. And at the awakening of the light of day from its night’s sleep, evil, like a vampire, is caught red-handed and meets its fate at the beaming morning ray.

There is enormous economic hardship in Liberia; therefore, it is important to track the history of the country prior to the coming into office of the current Unity Party government. Some of the major root causes including high prices of commodities on the Liberian market coupled with the new tariff laws on customs duties and charges, bureaucracies and the indiscipline attitudes displayed by administrator in government ministries and agencies.
