... As Aggrieved Family Members Demand Justice

The president of the Trucking Union of Liberia has been detained by the Liberia National Police, for failure to present the truck owner that kills several persons in the recent Johnson Street accident and wounded several including property damage.

Aggrieved Family 9x6The LNP in its wisdom detained the president of the trucking union, only identify as ‘Sumo’. Sumo has been accused of making arrangement for the burial of those that die in the accident without the consent of the lawyer representing the interest of the aggrieved family members.

His detention sparks after several hours of chanting from the aggrieved on the ground of the Temple of Justice and at the front of the LNP. The Family members were seen chanting “We want justice, our people getting rotting” was the voice of the aggrieved parents.

On the other hand the family members were accused by their lawyer that they had knowledge of the arrangement and they did not have him inform until this stage where the president has come before him.

The counselors averred that any burial arrangement should not been done with the union along, but with the consent of the Liberia National Police and the court. In an interview with one of the family member of the dead, Mr. Clifford Kai said he is disappointed in the Police for not been able to locate the truck owner at this time and have him sent to prison.

Recently LNP reported that three people died in an accident on Johnson Street and 11 persons got seriously injured at different degrees. The incident occurred on April 8, 2017 when a 20-foot containers lost control with the two containers falling, thus leading to the demise of three persons and 11 seriously injured.

In an interview with one of the dead relatives, Mot Felecia Saoh told news man that, she is very disappointed in the police to have an uninsured truck on the street of Monrovia and allow a handicap driver to obtain a driver’s license.

However, The LNP is following every step in the case to have the truck owner faced the full weight of the law if he is found guilty of any charge level against him. The owner of the truck only identify as Mr. Dukuly is working closely with the trucking union to make sure that those that died in the accident have befitting burial but it is not yet clear how the damage of property will be settle and those that sustain serious injury during the accident.
