The needs of health facilities demand immediate intervention to save lives. In Bomi County, the Red Cross recent assessment revealed the account of health practitioners that midwives are using phone and candle lights to deliver pregnant women at some health facilities in the remote parts of the county.

Red Cross InstallsWith support from the Canadian Red Cross, the Liberian Red Cross, under its Ebola recovery project, has installed solar lights at 13 rural health facilities in Bomi. The provision of the solar power to supply full lightening to the 13 rural health facilities brought hope to the people in strengthening health care delivery in the county.
The Red Cross latest intervention is meant to complement the effort of the government in creating the enabling environment for health practitioners to perform in an effective and efficient health sector.
The Ministry of Health has previously provided the facilities with solar panel to make their fridges system effective and functional for vaccine storage but the Red Cross solar panel will provide full lightening at the facilities.
“We want to ensure that the next child born in the local clinics will be born in save condition. We are very grateful to our Canadian Red Cross partner for this incredible support which makes us proud to complement the effort of government in this endeavor,” says Sayba Tamba, the Liberian Red Cross Secretary General.
The Red Cross EVD recovery project is working in 35 Ebola affected communities in Bomi since 2016 with 350 volunteers providing health messages and promoting best hygiene practices to mitigate the spread of infectious diseases including Ebola.
