The Secretary General of the Dugbe River Union, Mr. Aaron Manneh has disclosed that citizens and residents of Sinoe County are more ready than ever before for the celebration of National Independence Day on July 26, 2015.

This time around, he said possible failure and postponement of projects and celebration of July 26 would be made impossible because of citizens and residents' participation in all aspects of activities leading to a successful celebration of National Independence Day in the South Eastern Region.

Mr. Manneh has therefore called for the immediate setting up of a development task force that will closely collaborate with County authorities in overseeing the full implementation of all projects on schedule.

The former Assistant Minister for administration at the Ministry of Internal Affairs also thanked President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for recommitting the July 26 Celebrations in Sinoe and Grand Kru and Maryland Counties.

He said the Union strongly believes that this wise decision will largely help to accelerate the completion of both those abandoned and ongoing development projects in those counties.

The postponement or cancellation of Independence Day celebration in Sinoe, Grand Kru and Maryland counties dashed many hopes and aspiration and also grounded many projects in tsister counties at the time.

Now that President Sirleaf has reversed such decision, it behooves the citizens and residents of Sinoe, Grand kru and Maryland Counties to become proactive for a progressive engagement of development in their counties, he said.

In a related development, Mr. Manneh commends Madam Sirleaf for submitting to the National Legislature for reconsideration of the "Dual Citizenship Bill".
Mr. Manneh, a former National Police Officer, described this bill as an important and historic undertaking and so called on Sinoe Legislative Caucus to spearhead the passage of such bill.

“Those who forced out of the country under stringent and difficult circumstances and also born children also known as Liberians must not be excluded or denied the right to contribute to the development of their native land,” he said.

Meanwhile, in consultations, the activities of Dugbe River Union have been officially reactivated, with immediate effect.

An interim team will be announced shortly. The Union served and will continue to play its advocacy role as done in the past; will serve as pressure and pro-democratic group that will educate our people on good and bad policies of government.
The Union will become partner to peace building and positive transformation of Liberia.
