The County Administration of Nimba County says new standard has been developed for construction of buildings on the main streets in the commercial city of Ganta.
The new standard is part of the measuresby the government to ensure modern road construction through the city to the Guinean border and Loguatuo respectively.
Speaking to this paper Wednesday, the Development Superintendent of Nimba County, Dorr Cooper said the measure is rigid and violators will face administrative punishment. According to Superintendent Cooper, the new measure calls for many decks of buildings along the main streets and the sensitization and platform regarding the measure has since been developed. “We have just developed an agenda for development in the county.
This agenda is a strategic platform aims at making sure that we set a standard for construction in Ganta and Sanniquellie. After the completion of the new road, new structures along the main streets should be storey buildings.”
“We will not allow weak structures or makeshift structures. The people are taking it into consideration and are in high spirit. We are very serious on this. I have empowered the City Mayor of Ganta.
I have come down heavily in his support to make sure our people can comply.” According to him, the new plan will make Nimba County a model for other counties to follow. He noted that the county authority has challenged itself in collaboration with the ordinary citizens that the development of the county depends on the people of the county.
Superintendent Cooper said unity among the authorities of the county and citizens is shifting the county in a better position to forge ahead with development to ensure that the little resources of the area are properly used.
“The development of the county is in the supreme interest of the citizens and they are excited about it. Nobody will construct any building without inside bathrooms. We are trying to graduate from pit-latrine system. Absolutely, we are not allowing any pit-latrine that invites mosquitoes.” Dorr Cooper.
