-Business People Express Optimism
Trade in Nimba County is said to be at the pinnacle of boost as a result of the rehabilitation of the Monrovia-Ganta Highway as well as the connections of other feeder roads.

Business people in the county are having easy access to their commodities, this paper has learned. Business people from surrounding counties and others from across the country are utilizing the road, something which has also made trade easy in that part of the country.

Ganta serves as a transit point for business thereby reducing some of the costs and difficulties business people encounter in getting goods. Speaking to business people in the county, a foreign exchanger in Ganta Dyrus Dollemue said business in Nimba County is boooming especially with the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the road.

He complained of the exchange rate which serves as major challenge for free operations of businesses in the county. Dollemue wants government come up with a minimum rate so as to control the fluctuation of the United State dollars against the local currency on the market.

He indicated that the business community and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry have a good relationship as the process leading to the registration of businesses is smooth.

For her part, Vera Dolo added that business is running unlike before when the road was in a deplorable state. “Since they fixed this road our goods can be saved, no more dust and we can take one day to go Monrovia for goods or three days to go to Guinea to buy goods”.

According to her, the rehabilitation of the road has benefited especially business people, saying, “Ganta is a center point and people come from everywhere to trade and buy goods.”

“The road is not only helping business people but rather every citizen who is accessing the road because it also makes travel easier.” Accordingly, the deputy manager for operations of Trust Saving Credit Union, Arrinston Ballah said the connectivity is meaningfully contributing to the economic boost of the country as it has aided poor people to have good prospects.

He maintained that the road is making impact in that people can trade commodities from one community to another to enable them to send their children to school.
Ballah lamented that unlike before; the movement of business people from one point to another was smooth and encouraging as it is today.

He affirmed that 95 percent of businesses in Nimba County is owned and operated by Liberians, something he noted as plus for the country. Commenting as well, the senior county inspector of Nimba County who preferred cited that the business atmosphere in the county is good; noting that the business community is being dominated by Liberians.

He mentioned that road connectivity is a plus because Nimba County particularly Ganta now serves as a transit point for people from both Ivory Coast and Guinea to trade their commodities.

“When we came there were no statistics on businesses in the county but it is not the case now due to the free access of the roads”, he narrated.
