A businessman in Nimba County has described Liberian lawmakers as greedy people who are only concerned about enriching themselves. The executive manager of Brsam Loan Service, Samuel Brown said since its establishment the county has always been misrepresented based upon self-interest.

“If you claim you can solve the people problem, then start now and stop promising them,” he added. Brown, who is also the director of Sam Brown Network in Liberia, noted that due to the enthusiasm of lawmakers to enrich themselves, the US$4 million in the county coffers was credited by the government of Liberia.

“Everybody wanted their share of the money because of that it was not an easy confusion and so they allow the government to credit the money while the people lack healthcare, schools, roads, and market among other infrastructural development.

Brown maintained that up to date the money credited the Government of Liberia is yet to pay the money, thus leaving the commoners prey to the prevailing situation.

He claimed that no lawmakers can boost of any tangibles undertakings within their districts. Brown added that 99% of the developmental activities in the county are being implemented by citizens of the county and not their lawmakers.

“It is the citizens, particularly the business community that is building Nimba County and the lawmakers are the ones benefiting from the county”, he added. According to him, he is expected to break grounds for a 26 bedroom modern hospital in Nimba County as part of effort to resolve some of the difficulties citizens access to seek healthcare.

He cited that due to the increasing number of infant deaths, it is important to undertake the initiative as it will save the lives of common people who do not have the opportunity to go Sanniqullie to get medication with emphasis on the locals taking ownership of the facility.
