The chief executive officer of Jungle Water Group of Investment (JWGI), Tomah Seh Floyd, has called for collective participation of all Nimbains in and out of Liberia to play a meaningful and responsible role in providing support to the Nimba County Community College (NCCC), which is the highest learning institution in the area.

According to the Nimba County businessman, if the county must be second to none, higher education of young people which is a challenge to all citizens including parents, students, faculties and the administration of the institution must be taken seriously.

Making the assertion last Tuesday at the 5th anniversary celebration of the community college in Sanniquillie, Nimba County, Floyd maintained that the college is the light in Nimba County that is training young men and women making them more meaningful to the nation building process.

“The NCCC is our pride and dignity of higher education in our beloved Nimba that we all must uphold and support to the fullest,” he said. Floyd further stated that citizens can only give back to the community when they are given the needed and required education.

“Educated citizens have an obligation to serve the public and give their talents at the courthouse or the Executive Mission, but they must be participants and not spectators”, he added.

Floyd used the occasion to caution students to act now so as to enter the list of public service and rightly win the prize of the future because the transformation and development of the nation lies in their hands.

In a remark, the NCCC Board chair Dr. Frederick B. Norkeh cited that they believed in implemental change, something he noted that also contributes to the massive and progressive development initiatives at the facilities.

He added that the institution is developing fast to ensure that students college are given the best education as compared to others in the country. Norkeh said the board is motivated by the results of much recognition received from both local and international organizations.

“Learning is about continuity, so we will try to always put out our best to move education forward in this part of Liberia by giving our children the future they desired”, he explained.

Also speaking, the president of the college, Dr. Yah Donlah Gonway Gono, said the core mission of the college is to provide higher quality education through a systematic value learning process which involves joint efforts and resources of all faculty staff, administrators, board and the Government of Liberia in general.

She maintained leadership plays a very cardinal role in the development of a country and nation building process and it is against such backdrop that the college is making headways.

“An institution can be better with a good leadership structure and a system put into place, but in the absence of that it becomes difficult to reach your goal,” Gono said. She emphasized that the college`s numerous achievements is also based on the level of stability and understanding of student leaderships that have always buttressed their efforts in such direction.

The president named science and computer labs among other things as some achievements since its establishment of the institution. She also used the occasion to warn students against negative politics that has no impact on their lives but to rather engage in activities that will build the country. “We need to follow constructive politics and not destructive politics.”
