MCC Clara Mgovo NR-MCC Boss Discloses

Several resident of the West Point Community will be relocated to a new site somewhere in the Brewerville Community, Monrovia City Corporation MCC City Mayor has disclosed.

Clara Mgovo said the relocation was predicated upon the constant sea erosion residents are facing annually due to risen sea waters apparently being caused by climate change. The MCC spoke Thursday at the Information Ministry regular press briefing, saying also the relocation is due to a petition filed by about 18,000 residents, highlighting the issue of their homes being taken away by the sea.

“The relocation site will be at the Brewerville community where the construction of homes will be carried on and given to families for an affordable amount,” she said though fell short giving time tag for the project which is long overdue.

“The land is already preserved, close to the sea so that community dwellers, after being relocated, can continue their fishing.” The mayor, however, dispelled rumors that the entire West point will be relocated. She said only those who are affected by the sea erosion.

Madam Mgovo who did not reveal the specific time, cost and the affordable amount to be paid for home said “if completed the living condition of those individuals will be a bit relief.”  Also, the MCC boss said the Duala Market will be relocated around the Caldwelll Bridge to address the traffic and other situation in that part of the country.

She boasted that the Corporation had made several gains in the period of her time in office, a response to claims in some circles that the MCC is dead under her watch. She named construction of toilets in communities that are in need of public toilet as some of the gains her administration has made.

“People who do not have public toilets in their communities and have available land can reach at the office of MCC,” Madam Mvogo said.
