The National Housing Authority (NHA) has postponed the dedication of the 52 housing units in Ben Town Marshall, Margibi County.
The dedication program was schedule for Friday August 22, 2015, but due to the absence of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf who should have turned the keys over to those who has already met the 20% payment guideline and for some who had already purchased cash down.
According to the Deputy Manager for Administration Prince Anything Wreh, the program was scheduled for Friday at 1 pm. “We had challenges with the weather and there were other prior engagement that have held the representation of our chief executive. In good faith she strongly expressed her being here today but, unfortunately other things came out.”
“We respectfully apology to all our guests today for the postponement of this program,” Mr. Wreh added. Mr. Wreh said, “This is the first face of the 125 housing units of Marshall, Margibi County Ben Town and an initiative of government through the national housing Authority which is task with the mandate of loan affordable homes for the people of Liberia.
The Deputy Manager noted that the, “Project cost is about 1.2million dollar, this is for the first face which had exhausted the 1.2 million for the 52 housing units to include the landscaping, and the entire project cost is 4.2million that will cover basic services as well as the remaining units that make up the 125.”
“The government has continue to remain satisfy in its efforts to restore that infrastructure development is provided for the people of Liberia and through the NHA this is coming to reality,” He further added.
He said face two is to be expected after the execution of the 2015/16 fiscal budget year. “There are six or seven units that you see internal work going on, those units has been purchased, we are task with the cosmetic of the interior, when you purchased your unit or home you will fashion it to your liking.” The DMA asserted.
Ordinary Liberian can benefit any of the housing units through LBDI “that has a process of you must be employed, you must have a registered business with the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce and the Liberia Business Registry.
The worth of each unit is “US $28,000,” but explained that unit are given for US$20,00O.00, noting that one’s can notify the NHA by writing a letter to the Manager declaring his/her intention upon acceptance be qualify after paying the 20% amounting to US$ 4,000 as initial payment, you must be a working person, Tax payer among other he stated allow one to enroll into a ten-year mortgage program with the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI).”
