adra liberiaThe Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) has embarked on the donation of assorted textbooks to various community colleges and universities across Liberia.

Universities benefiting from ADRA-Liberia’s gesture include University of Liberia, Vonjamin Community College, the African Methodist Episcopal Zion University (AMEZU) and the Grand Bassa Community College.

Donating to the AMEZU on Friday May 22, 2015, the Country Director of ADRA-Liberia, Mr. Anthony Aaron Zaizay said the exercise is aimed at helping to develop the Libraries of various universities and community colleges across the Country, adding the institution believes in community development.

He said, “We at ADRA-Liberia believe in community development and we realized that one of the things we want to do is to develop all Universities’ Libraries in Liberia, we started with Vonjamin Community College where we sent Pick-Up load of books and then we went to the University of Liberia and donated lot of textbooks and medical books.”

Mr. Zaizay said they are of the strongest belief that the books being donated to the AMEZ University will go a long way in helping students in terms of research and self development among others.

Some of the books donated to the University include: Criminal Justice, Literature Laboratory Manual and Chemistry among others.

On behalf of the Administration of the AMEZU, , the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs Mrs. Victoria M. Tweh expressed excitement over the donation stating, this is another way of advancing the Gospel, saying that the books will help equip the Library at the University. Mrs. Tweh meanwhile thanked ADRA-Liberia for the donation.

For his part, a student studying Criminal Justice at the University, Mr. Saah Moses described the donation as a surprise on ground that they have long been yarning for textbooks most especially the Criminal Justice book that will enhance the learning process of students of the AMEZ University.

According to him, the University lacks textbooks such as the Criminal Procedure Law book and the Panel Law book among many other books.

He said whenever students at the university go to different book stores in search of textbooks whenever they are given assignments, though they are often successful.

He at the same time extended thanks to ADRA-Liberia for what he called a surprise donation made to the University for the first time in history.
