The ceremony was attended by several personalities including the Assistant Superintendent for Development of Gbarpolu, Paul M. Kimba, UNICEF District Mobilization Coordinator Alfred S. Morris, chiefs, elders, youths and Kpayeakwelleh Marketing Association among others.
Making a remark during the occasion, Rep. Malai G. Gbogar said the project is intended to provide shelter for marketers in the area especially during the raining season.
Hon. Gbogar said she knows the pains the citizens go through whenever it rains or sun shine stating that the citizens bare her heart beat and it worries her a lot.
The Gbarpolu Lawmaker narrated that she has always asked God for direction in the way that she can help her people when it comes to development.
Hon. Gbogar indicated that while she was away, she was thinking about her people and she thought on the raining season knowing fully well that Kpayeakwelleh is the central point for marketing and as such she cannot allow the rain to continue beating the marketers.
“We know the pain you people go through in this District whenever it rains or the sun shines, you are our heart beat and it pains us and worries us a lot so we always ask God for direction in the way that we can help you,” she told the citizens.
The Representative added that the Citizens are her heart beat because the stood by her and elected her during the 2011 general and presidential elections.
She explained that she use her personal money to under the project in order to affect the lives of her citizens positively.
She expressed excitement that people can enter the district not only hearing her name but can see a positive mark that she has left in the area.
Giving an overview of the project earlier, one of the office staffers to the Representative, Mr. George Golawu said after vigorously assessing the need of the people of the District and the ascendency of Hon. Gbogar to the House of Representative, she has made it her priority in improving the economy livelihood of the citizens of District #2 noting that it is against this backdrop that the Lawmaker has constructed the market building in the area.
According to him, the project seeks to provide shelter for marketers in and around Bong County, District #2 Gbarpolu County and every other area.
He added that the project also seeks to avoid the citizens from traveling long distances covering many hours thus causing some of them not to take their produce to the market.
Meanwhile, Citizens of the area have expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for the initiative and promised to maintain facility.
