The Liberia Police has charged a 31-year-old man, Francis Faijue with murder after allegedly killing his little brother for ‘kiss meat’ barbeque in the Chicken Soup Factory community.

Defendant Faijue was arrested and acquainted with his constitutional rights and subsequently charged with the crime of murder for purposely, knowingly, criminally and intentionally stabbing his little brother Christopher Faijue.

The police charged sheet issued Wednesday noted that defendant Faijue stabbed his little brother in his left chest and stomach with a brown-handle pocket knife and absconded on the 5th of May 2017 in violation of Chapter 14 Section 14.1 of the Revised Penal Code of Liberia.

According to the investigation, it revealed that the defendant has earlier threatened the deceased with a knife in the presence of their mother Evelyn Faijue which caused him to run out of the house.

“During the investigation, detailed inquiries and information revealed that on May 2017 during the evening hours, defendant Francis came from work and sat with his friend only identified as Johnny at his entertainment place at Chicken Soup Factory, Bassa Town community where they both started drinking some alcohol,” the investigation indicated.

“While drinking, his little brother, victim Christopher Faijue came and defendant Francis allegedly bought him one bottle of Army Bitter Dry Bin and after drinking he left and unfortunately forgot about a plastic bag of ‘kiss meat’ barbeque he bought for his mother,” the charge sheet noted.

“Kiss meat”, a local name for tiny snail shaped oysters that live in salt water in the mangrove swamp along the sea coast. This can be collected and cooked and mixed in delicious pepper sauce as barbeque.

Furthering that, upon his return to collect his kiss meat, he met defendant Francis, his brother and his friends eating it and left small amount in the plastic and he handled the bag and got annoyed and threw it away. This was then that his brother got angry with and started making confusion.

The police findings indicated also that the deceased went with the complaint to their mother while there another argument broke out in their house at which time the defendant took out a brown handle pocket knife and threatened him.

Moreover, the deceased left and while standing with his mother the defendant went there and stabbed him in the stomach and chest at which time he was rushed at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, defendant Francis is now in the custody of the Liberia National Police pending court trial.
