Orphans Concern –Liberia (ORCON-Liberia) in collaboration with Orphans Advocates Network International is expected to launch an Orphan Sunday-Liberia in order to give religious community support to orphanage homes.

Amos Sawboh, the executive director of the group said, Orphan Sunday-Liberia is a special day set aside every second Sunday in a month to raise awareness on the plight of orphans and vulnerable children in Liberia.
According to him, this program is intended to commemorate and strengthen the ideas of humanitarian goodwill towards these kids. Sawboh added that with the numerous challenges orphans faced in Liberia, Orphan Sunday will have kids from selected orphanages or centers to perform and entertain the audience with music and other Christian arts during the service to share the love of Jesus Christ.
He intoned that the program will also target orphans of Ebola and other orphanages and will basically focus on fundraising to support these children. The group executive director stressed that the launch is expected to bring together key stakeholders, government institutions, non-governmental organizations, youth and student groups and will be held under the theme: “Christians Standing up to Help Orphans”
The program is expected to take place on Sunday August 20, 2017 at the Rock International Church in Douhzon, lower Margibi County. Mr. Sawboh said that 20 orphans will be brought together during the program and they will be given the opportunity to share their stories.
He added that the Liberia Council of Churches, the College of Bishops and other religious institutions are all informed about the program to help give orphans in Liberia the best life.
